We must never allow governments to restrict the internet or to erode freedom and democracy, especially after 'Sept 11th' and other world events.

I also sponsor and maintain a mailing list for people interested in IT Security issues. Aimed at experts and beginners alike, it's an ideal forum to discuss PGP, Privacy, Security and related issues. Whether you're a crypto expert wishing to gain more from computer security or a novice wishing to install PGP for the first time, it is hoped this mailing list will be of help to you.

Usenet Newsgroups

If you have access to Usenet, there are several newsgroups dedicated to privacy and cryptography issues. The following might be worth a look at;

alt.privacy - Low traffic newsgroup about privacy issues, mainly press releases, but does contain chat.
alt.security.pgp - Alternative newsgroup for discussion on Pretty Good Privacy (PGP)
comp.security.announce - Low traffic newsgroup on security announcements.
comp.security.pgp.announce - Low traffic newsgroup for PGP announcements.
sci.crypt - Quite a technical newsgroup for discussing the mathematics and theory of cryptographic topics. (reasonably high traffic)
uk.politics.censorship - UK based newsgroup discussing censorship in the press and political issues. (very low traffic)

The Terrorism Act 2006 - An update to the Terrorism Act, as a direct response to the July attacks on London.
The Prevention of Terrorism Act 2005 - A system of control orders which replaces the Part 4 powers under the Anti-Terrorism, Crime and Security Act 2001.
Anti-Terrorism, Crime and Security Act 2001 - Introduced to provide stronger powers to allow the police to investigate and prevent terrorist activity and other serious crime.
The Terrorism Act 2000 - The UK's primary piece of counter terrorism legislation.
